fcuk

last year, it was all about vocal chords and diaphragm power.
this time, my summer's gonna be filled with tongue-twisting words and guttural syllables.

Parlez-Vous Francais?

last monday, i received the community newsletter about the new classes and man, i was thrilled to see FRENCH 101! on the list. registration started the next day and i was one of the few peeps who signed up at 7:00 am. :) that's how excited i am - and how coveted the slots are. imagine, after 3 minutes, there were already more than 30 names on the list and as of now, there are almost 170 hopefuls waiting to be chosen for the final 25 participants. [come this monday, the registration will be closed and im wishing i'd get in as i did not attend any community classes this fiscal year anyway.]

i just can't wait. now my weekends will not just be tied to staring at a mainframe emulator all day. :) at least, i'll be having an excuse to get out on Saturdays. also, learning languages is one of my unexplored passions. good thing, my company's sponsoring this class. wohoo! an all-expense paid workshop.

by the way, here's the curriculum of the class.

the downside though of registering for this class is that i won't be able to join any summer getaways (that is if i receive any invites). missed sessions would cost me at least 500 bucks each. so, if i sign up, i better block out those dates from my calendar.

well, i can just start beach swims after the last French class. that even would be a good birthday treat for myself.. who knows, they might even teach how to french kiss in that class. wahahaha.

err, nevermind.. anyhoo, au REVoir for now!
i need to catch up on updating some work documents.

abandonado

dahil hanggang ngayon..

di mo pa rin ako kilala, mahal.

BUWIS-IT

The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax.
- Albert Einstein

taxation would really be one of the ugly realities of the working world. initially, you'd think you've got yourself a lucrative job contract, but come your payslips, that's when the delusion fades. your bubble bursts, and you feel like you're being robbed of your hard-earned moolah.

while looking at my YTD taxes from my December payslip, freaky mimi, i was taken aback. for the first time, i worked for a full calendar year.. and for the first time i knew the fugliness of taxation. there it was... almost **,000 pesos of taxes taken away from my pay! unbelievable...

then i began to do the tax computations myself.
get the tax table and use Excel to tally my monthly pays and exemptions.
heck, Payroll was right with the deductions.

and then i began to rant on what i could've bought with that money.
man, i could've even paid out my oustanding credit card dues in full.
or i could've bought my sister a desktop PC.
or i could've feasted in boracay for a week-long escapade.

then, the end of all-then's.
i took a deep sigh. and i realized... it's for real.

it would've been a good thing though if you can see where your taxes go.
other countries have outstanding national programs, which would make you appreciate the way how their government values the public's money.
BUT FCUK OUR GOVERNMENT!
FCUK THIS CORRUPT AND DECAYING GOVERNMENT!

our politicians just want to leech on their pork barrels to finance their luxurious and sinful lifestyle.
they even don't know how to effectively manage fundings and initiate genuine social development.

what you get are mediocre projects, which most of the time are overbudgeted or left unfinished.
and those non-existent foundation funding crap - injustice to the nth level.
on national tv, you see your leaders mudslinging all week (or even months) or even debating about charter change like kids.
and lowly as it is, your district gets a waiting shed sprayed with your congressman's name all over the roof (as if the money to build it came from his own pockets) which would eventually just stand as an eyesore as it gets dilapidated through the rainy season.
this you would later find out to be reportedly worth 1.5 million pesos.
cow dung
.
what a blatant self-promotion for the next election, all expense-paid.

i wish they have those trapo's drugged up in Valium or be fed to the hungry lions. they're no good after all.
mga baboy at salot ng lipunan.
these freaks just don't have accountability to their people. as long as they can get away with their anomalies, they continue on to live shamelessly with their evil doings.
this is how seemingly hopeless this country is. "strong republic", my ass.
good thing i don't have a gun. or else, i'd shoot up any fat-ass mayor i see right now and leave a note by his corpse: "I WANT A TAX REFUND."
[i wish i was gutsy enough though.]

hey man, this is me, still not on caffeine.
swear, politicians really make my blood pressure shoot sky-rocketing levels up.

i know i'm not the sole person who feels this way and sure, we can dream all we want that all this tax nightmare would just drown into oblivion.
but at the end of the day, it would still dawn on you -- it's here to stay.
all you can just do is to embrace it and work your ass off.
be that corporate slave you've always been..

and pay your taxes right.

letting

when i'm fortunate enough to catch the last shuttle trip on my way to work, i always put on my earphones and switch radio channels to battle the boredom of my trafficked travel.and just a few days ago, after listening to a series of usual pop junk played on the airwaves, this beautiful song just came to play.

i love rock ballads. albeit the cliches and the recurring chord patterns, i never get tired of the yet another attempts to chronicle another chapter of love, angst, pain, longing or even hope. this time, with the mix of nostalgic laid-back accompaniment and rob's haunting vocals, this song just hit the right buttons . it was just captivating... beautiful.i was even almost teary-eyed when it was over.

a story of trusting, holding on and being loved, especially at those times when we're broken and uncertain.
a definite favorite that would sit on my playlist from now on.

EVER THE SAME
Rob Thomas

We were drawn from the weeds
We were brave like soldiers
Falling down under the pale moonlight
You were holding to me
Like a someone broken
And I couldn't tell you but I'm telling you now

Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you so we both fall down

Fall on me
Tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you forever in me
Ever the same

We would stand in the wind
We were free like water
Flowing down
Under the warmth of the sun
Now it's cold and we're scared
And we've both been shaken
Look at us
Man, this doesn't need to be the end

Just let me hold you while you're falling apart
Just let me hold you so we both fall down

Fall on me tell me everything you want me to be
Forever with you
Forever in me
Ever the same
Call on me
I'll be there for you and you'll be there for me
Forever it's you
Forever in me
Ever the same

You may need me there
To carry all your weight
But you're no burden I assure
You tide me over
With a warmth I'll not forget
But I can only give you love
