decagonized

TEN THINGS I WOULD DO FOR THE YEAR.
It has been my habit since 2003 to start my year writing down 10 things I plan to do for the year.
For 2003 and 2004, I have been able to make 5 out of 10. This time, I'll attempt to make at least 7.

1. Save at least 35, 000 pesos by the end of the year.
I started the year with no money. After the holidays, my bank account was zeroed out due to paying my bills.
Now, what I wanted is to be able to save a tiny portion of my salary as I know this will be beneficial for me in the future.

2. Buy at least 3 of the following stuff: a new cellphone, a watch, a digicam, a guitar, and a desktop PC.
I lost my cellphone last November, and until now, I haven't bought myself a new one.
The digicam is to make me develop my budding interest in photography.
The desktop PC is primarily for my sister. I know this will help her big time in doing her projects.
The guitar is to help me revive my learning to play the instrument. In fact, I haven't touched one for almost half a year now.
The watch is really for accesorizing. Hehe. :)

3. Get promoted on September 2005 (and hopefully get a fat raise).
It is only during September that my company issues promotions and salary raises.
And by September this year, I would have been with the company for almost 1.5 years.
My 2-year bond would expire on April 2006 and If I don't get promoted, then I'd take it as a sign that maybe I should pursue another professional field. Maybe then IT isn't exactly for me.
This may sound to be a bit ambitious. But this my bold goal for my career this year.

4. Read at least 10 novels. Buy at least 10 books.
Looking back at 2004, I realized that I was not able to read any novel.
All my energies were consumed at work, that I guess I was not able to make time to do leisure reading. LOSER!

5. Learn programming in a new language -- Java, C++, or html.
I'LL TRY.

6. Go to an out-of-town vacation. Maybe to go swimming or just stay on .
I guess it's about time that I give myself a break.
Not just plain houserest or good two-hour malling.
I need a break from the city.

7. Write 5 poems for the year.
I. will. write. 5. poems. for. the. year.

8. Watch 10 movies at the cinema. (not on DVD.)
This is all part of the pamper-myself routine I tend to develop for the year.
(The last time I visited a theaterhouse is for "The Incredibles".)
Seemingly, I have missed a lot of good movies last year.
For 2005, I'll make sure I get to feed the movie junkie in me.

9. Lose 2 inches off my waist. So I can fit better in my clothes.
Fudge, I am getting fatter. I have to really rid of these ugly adipose.

10. Expand my social network. Have the courage to talk to my crush. :)

I hope 2005 has a lot of good things in store for me.
Good luck to me. I hope that I'd be able to do what I intend to do for this year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

copycat

i'm plagiarizing.
it's past 1 now but i am browsing through net sites for some helpful articles for my sister's English project that's due tomorrow.
she's tasked to do a book report on.. take this.. PLATO'S SYMPOSIUM!
what the fudge. imagine that - a junior high schooler expected to fathom an ancient discourse on Love.
and darling, that's with a capital L.

one thing though, i could not remember now if we ever had Plato's Symposium in any of my philosopy classes way back in college.
but what I could recall are the fundamental discussions about Ancient Grecian texts.
Plato, Socrates, and Co.

as there isn't enough time now to really absorb the material and create an original report out of it,
i just resorted to the ever-reliable internet.
a copy there, and a paste here.
a couple of paraphrasing and deletions, plus random injections of personal thoughts.
voila, a masterpiece.

bad me.
but it's for my sister.
and hell, even some 20-year olds would never understand the Symposium.
