songbird

my company is offering some community courses this april and i am freakingly ecstatic to register for the Pop Singing Workshop. the class would be meeting at 2-4 pm for all the Saturdays of April and participants will be trained under Liaa Ambrosio. discussions and performance reviews are some of the things the class to be covered, plus a studio recording exercise for its last session. and the best part is - IT'S FREE! goodness, this is gonna be so much fun!

yet, some things are holding me back. first, though i am a music junkie, i admit i am not a good singer. sure, i can imitate performers for the fun of it, but when it comes down to serious singing, sheesh i have no potential. what makes me more scared is the possibility that the other participants might be really good divas and crooners. my addition would be a total embarrrassment if and when that happens. another thing, my friends are thinking of going to puerto galera on the 8th, and if i do pursue taking the singing class, then i certainly would miss it. (bye-bye beach summer escapades.) some officemates are also thinking of enrolling under the cooking class, which unfortunately would conflict with singing workshop schedule.

sigh. i am so torn right now. should i take the class or not? i still have till tomorrow to decide and hopefully i'd be able to make up my mind by then.

... slouches and then frowns. after 10 seconds of staring blankly at the ceiling, jumps ups and belts "... and i don't want to miss a THAAAAAAAAAAAAANGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!" finally, bows to the imaginary audience.

egg-cellent

we had an easter egg design competition in our company last week, and our project sent in a clowns-themed entry: hard boiled eggs handpainted with watercolor, yarn-haired, red clay-nosed and showered with glitter power set against a circus backdrop.

my colleagues exerted total effort in creating the masterpiece, but we still did not put our hopes too high as there were almost 30 entries considered. as the saying goes, don't count your eggs before they hatch.

but surprise of all surprises, we bagged the top prize! my officemates were shrieking like hyenas when we read the announcement over the e-mail. it was so unexpected and so lifting.

anyways, here are some pics of the champion eggs. aren't they cute? :)

and didn't i say every one in our project get 200 bucks worth of GCs as prizes? wohooooo!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
I hope you guys had the time to contemplate on the true meaning of the season and gave your tired bodies a well-deserved rest.

wiped out

my laptop broke down. the OS just kept on restarting; i couldn't even get through to Windows.
and take this, our technical staff said my hard disk crashed and they couldn't retrieve any files.

FUCK IT!

bye bye my mp3s.
bye bye my fabulous pics.
bye bye my american idol stuff.
bye bye poem drafts.

FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!

if there's one thing i'm grateful for, I saved copies of most of my office files in our project network drive.
if i hadn't been able to do that last week, i would've been seriously messed up now.
*sighs.*

phantom-IM-ed

time to ramble again about things that i'm beginning to hate now.
i realized that some of the friends in my YM list stick to their invisible mode - perhaps they probably don't want to be bothered or are maybe hiding from someone. i'll just know that they are online when they pop me a "Hi! What's up?" or Buzz! alert.

but thinking more about it, I feel as if I am used in all this messenger connectivity, when other people can see me online but I can't ever see them online! where's common decency in there?

i'm now thinking of a resolution - I WON'T RESPOND TO IM's FROM INVISIBLE PEOPLE. since they wish to be invisible, i'll respect their choice and give them what they want.
if they would wish to talk to me about something, it wouldn't take much from them - they just have to be decent enough to leap out first of the IM phantoms they have made of themselves.

recycle deluxe

local artists nowadays just NEED to have revivals in their current albums, you know? some even has an entire album of remakes (i.e. MYMP's versions, Martin's latest - a compilation of heartbreaking songs). have the songwriters been losing their juices? and i mean the real songwriters, not LITO CAMO.

sure, it is an easier way for listener's instant recall. what's irritating though is some artists end up butchering the songs - where is the justice in that? others even do not bother to change the musical arrangement! vocals are even patterned against the original. totally dismal and forgettable.

but that's just not it. the revived classics always face the dilemma of being overplayed. and years from now, the song will be remembered and identified with the second-rate remaker.
tsk tsk tsk.

at any rate, here's a song getting quite performed so frequently in the acoustic scene right now.
Nina sang her wonderful rendition of this song in her latest album: Nina Live! i also caught Jinky of Freestyle belt this song last Hearts' Day - fabulous. this is my LSS for the past days, and i even have 3 versions of this song shuffling in my winamp.
here it goes...

LOVE MOVES IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS (Julia Fordham)

Who'd have thought this is how the pieces fit?
You and I shouldn't even try making sense of it
I forgot how we ever came this far
I believe we had reasons but I don't know what they are
So blame it on my heart, oh

(*) Love moves in mysterious ways
It's always so surprising when love appears over the horizon
I'll love you for the rest of my days
But still, it's a mystery of how you ever came to me
Which only proves love moves in mysterious ways

Heaven knows love is just a chance we take
We make plans but then love demands a leap of faith
So hold me close and never let me go
'Cause even though we think we know which way the river flows
That's not the way love goes, no (*)

Like the ticking of the clock, two hearts beat as one
But I'll never understand the ways it's done (*)
